When you open Timeline Maker Pro, you will be greeted with a Welcome Screen, where you can choose to create a new Timeline Maker Pro file, either by manually entering data, or by importing data from another file type. Note: if you have chosen to disable the Welcome Screen you can reactivate it by selecting File > Options > General > Show Welcome Screen on Start Up. A checkmark indicates that the Welcome Screen has been activiated.

To create a new timeline from the Welcome Screen by manually entering data:

  1. Under Make a Timeline, select Enter events/tasks

This will open the event/task list, ready for data entry. Please see Entering Events for more information on how to enter data.

To create a new timeline from the Welcome Screen by importing data from another file type:

  1. Under Make a Timeline, select Import

See Importing Files Into Timeline Maker Pro for more information on importing data.

If you choose to disable the Welcome Screen, you can still create new timeline files quickly and easily. Unless otherwise selected in User Preferences, Timeline Maker Pro will automatically create a new timeline file each time you open the program. You can also create new files mid-session.

To create a new file mid-session:

  1. Click the File tab
  2. Select New.

You will note that the file name is “Untitled.tlm4.” If you wish to keep the timeline file for later use, you will need to assign a new name to the file using File > Save.
