The term “connectors” refers to the arrows which connect the events to the timescale. By default, the Flag Timeline is created with a single connector arrow pointing to the event’s start date on the timescale. However, Timeline Maker Pro allows you to customize your connectors so that, if desired, events with a date range can display a connector for both the start and end date by using double arrows.

Tip: To change the default connector setting, select File > Options > Chart and click on the desired setting.

Choosing a connector style

Timeline Maker Pro provides twelve different connector shapes to choose from. Users can modify the fill color, as well as the outline color, style and thickness.

Note: The program does not allow individual connectors to be modified. Instead, all connectors on the Flage Timeline are modified when a change is applied.

To select a connector style:

  1. While viewing your Flag Timeline, click the Home tab.
  2. Click the down arrow under Styles in the Connector group.
  3. Select the desired connector style.

Customizing the connector

To select a fill color:

  1. While viewing the Flag Timeline, select the Home tab.
  2. In the Connector group, click the down arrow beside Arrow Fill.
  3. Choose a color from either the Theme Colors (drawn from the theme currently in use), Standard Colors, or click More Colors to choose a custom color.

Tip: If you wish to leave the fill blank, select No Fill in the Arrow Fill drop down list.

To customize the arrow outline:

  1. While viewing the Flag Timeline, select the Home tab.
  2. In the Connector group, click the down arrow beside Arrow Outline.
  3. Choose an outline Style, Color and/or Width.

Tip: If you choose to have no outline, select the first option in the style menu, which looks like a blank space.
